Firewood (Fin: polttopuu) can be obtained by chopping logs from the firewood pile in the woodshed, or the cottage firewood pile using an ax. [1] The firewood can be used for one of the game's job which is filling the trailer with firewood and delivering it to the firewood guy. The ax must be equipped (F by default) to pick logs from the pile by clicking (LMB by default) on it. Chopping logs can also serve as a stress-relieving activity. Firewood will also disappear upon saving the game.

In addition to delivery tasks, firewood is essential for heating fireplaces such as the cottage sauna and the parents' house which can be used for cooking food or heating up the player character. Each piece of firewood lasts for 2 minutes and 30 seconds with a maximum of four pieces lasting for 10 minutes in any firewood-operated object. Producing usable embers for cooking using firewood requires a minimum wait of 7 minutes and 30 seconds, as it takes just over 5 minutes for the embers to appear, using up three pieces of firewood.

Each log yields two pieces of firewood, meaning 80 logs will provide enough firewood (160 pieces) to completely fill the trailer for delivery.
